FAQ

Q. Doesn’t Bodine teach students with a wide array of learning disabilities?

A. Bodine offers a specialized, individualized program designed specifically to teach students with dyslexia and reading-related learning disabilities. We do not accept students with other learning disabilities that are outside of our focused mission.

Q. Does my child need all 6 years at Bodine in order to succeed?

A. No, the number of years at Bodine varies from student to student. Each student receives an individualized education plan (IEP) every year and is taught to his or her specific needs based on progress, performance, and assessment data.

Q. In addition to reading intervention, I want my child to have access to traditional school experiences. What does Bodine offer?

A. In most ways, Bodine looks just like any school: we offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes Math, Science, Social Studies, P.E., Art, Music, Library, and Innovation Lab. Bodine also has after-school offerings including soccer, basketball, and cheer teams, music lessions, and a chess club. In addition, students periodically participate in field trips and special events like Field Day and music programs.

Q. What are Bodine's school day hours?

A. The school day at Bodine is 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Early drop-off is available each day beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Aftercare is offered to Bodine School students from 3:30 to 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday on full school days (no half days). A snack will be provided each day. There is a $1,200 annual fee for this service, which will be charged via TADS, and a $25.00 late fee will apply after 5:00 p.m. Drop-ins are $10.00 per day. To register your child for aftercare, please contact the office at (901) 754-1800.

Q. How does Bodine keep parents informed about academic affairs and school events?

A. We welcome your interest in your child's education and encourage communication between you and the school. For example, we publish a weekly parent newsletter, we maintain a password-protected area on our school website for parents and students, and we schedule parent/teacher conferences regularly throughout the year.
