August 2, 2021:
With the significant transmission of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19, our priority is safely having students in the classroom. We have gathered information from medical experts including Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the CDC. After careful consideration, Bodine School has decided to require masks for both students and adults for the start of the 2021-2022 school year on August 9 until health data indicates that masks can be safely removed. Masks are required for all students, faculty and staff, and visitors – regardless of vaccination status – in all indoor environments including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and offices. This policy is effective on the first day of school, Monday, August 9.
MASKING PROTOCOL (as recommended by Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital):
· MASKS REQUIRED – When community transmission in Shelby County is HIGH or SUBSTANTIAL, as determined by the CDC COVID Data Tracker
· MASKS ENCOURAGED – When community transmission in Shelby County is LOW or MODERATE, as determined by the CDC COVID Data Tracker
We will continue to monitor guidelines on a weekly basis or as the conditions above are met or modified.
